There are many local eateries convenient for Cooleemee visitors and all of them have fine sweet tea and a favorite local beverage called “Cheerwine.” These are listed in order of distance from Cooleemee but none are very far away. Those on Hwy 601 are all on the way to historic downtown Mocksville.

Red Pig Bar-B-Q – located at “Greasy Corner”—the intersection of Hwy 801 & Hwy 601. This is the longest standing BBQ establishment here. Get a BBQ sandwich with “red slaw”, a foot long or a plate lunch with home cooked vegetables and an entree. Great breakfast. Open 6 am-8pm, all week long
Monte de Rey Restaurant – authentic Mexican food with a large and varied menu. Located in the shopping center near Food Lion at 1374 US Hwy 601. Open 11 am-9:30 pm, every day of the week
Kent’s Home Cooking – Daily specials with home cooked vegetables. Sandwiches and breakfast until 10:30am. Open 5 am-9 pm. Closed Sundays. Located in the shopping center near Food Lion at 1370 US Hwy 601
Subway – National chain known for its subs. Open 7 am-9pm every day. Located at 1360 US Hwy 601 next to Dragons Pizza.
Hardees – Located just north of Food Lion shopping center. Burgers, curly fries and real ice cream milkshakes. Open 5 am – 11 pm, every day of the week.
Zekos Village – located a little further north on US Hwy 601, this superb café features Italian and other Mediterranean food with good soups, salads and main dishes. Open everyday, 11 am – 10 pm weekdays and Friday and Saturday, open until 11pm. Located at 949 Salisbury St (Hwy 601) after passing Davie County High School.
CJ’s BBQ – is located on the Cooleemee side of Mocksville, at 885 South Salisbury Street, near Hwy 601. Its unique hand-painted mural façade reminds one of days gone by. Breakfast is great and will relish Davie County’s unique “pimento cheeseburger.” Open 6 am-3pm Mondays-Saturday. Closed SundaySpending the night?
