River Park Superintendent (P/T-Contractual)

General Definition of Work
Performs general technical skilled work facilitating day to day operations of River Park at Cooleemee Falls; completes a variety of general cleaning and maintenance of facilities, inputs and maintains data and records, conducts day to day operational and security procedures, collects water samples, provide support assistance for park events, and performs related work as required. Work is performed under the direct supervision of River Park at Cooleemee Falls Board of Directors.

This position is a part-time, contractual obligation that requires flexibility, strong reliability, initiative, work ethic, and character. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Essential Duties
Performs duties in accordance with the mission of River Park at Cooleemee Falls; encourages and promotes a culture of excellent park and customer service.

Execute daily opening and closing procedures for park facilities including but not limited to: opening and closing River Park gate, unlocking and locking restrooms.

Perform daily routine safety inspections of park facilities and communicate potential or imminent hazards to the River Park Board of Directors.

Perform daily cleaning of park facilities. Duties include: moping restrooms, trash pick-up on park grounds, emptying trash receptacles and replacing with new trash liners, and placing all trash in dumpsters.

Record and input daily attendance data from park vehicle counter; submits monthly spreadsheet to the Board of Directors.

Perform quarterly well-water testing and provide results to Statesville Analytical.

Remove limbs and other debris from trail ways and parking lots.

Remove graffiti from park facilities as needed.

Clear park patrons from the park at closing using tactful means.

Report security matters to local law enforcement (Cooleemee Police Department).

Perform general maintenance work as needed.

Perform customer service functions including providing information about rules and regulations, events, and historical significance of the park through communication in person while on duty.

Maintain a positive attitude towards the River Park Board of Directors, the park site, and park rules and regulations.

Assists with set up, breakdown and general execution of all special events sponsored and implemented by the River Park Board of Directors.

Performs job duties on weekends and holidays.

Perform other duties and assignments as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the equipment and techniques necessary to successfully perform park operational procedures; general knowledge and the ability to competently perform park maintenance, general knowledge of first aid methods and necessary safety precautions to be used in park duties; general knowledge of park rules and regulations, preparing reports and the ability to express ideas and information clearly both orally and in writing, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with park patrons, the general public and the River Park Board of Directors. Possess excellent character, professionalism and moral compass. .

Education and Experience
The preferred candidate will have any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma. Preferred experience in a park service or customer service environment.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 30 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking lifting, speaking and hearing; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work occasionally requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; majority of work requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a intermittently noisy location (e.g. park, river water falls, and moderate traffic).

Special Requirements
Possession of CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina.

Must have no criminal record and pass criminal background screening

Compensation Hourly Part-Time: $11.00 – $13.00 (DOQ/DOE)
