Things To Do
The park features an impressive stone dam, a sandy beach deposited there by a flood, and good fishing in the spring and fall. Many bring their bathing suits to swim and “ride” the little rapids. There are scattered picnic tables and benches along its beautiful, wooded trails and the handsome big shelter can be rented, perfect for family reunions or church gatherings. The restrooms are located near the main parking area. Portages are available for canoeing and kayaking.

Park Rules
Basic park rules shown below keep us all safe. You may also read and download the full version of the Park Rules HERE.
- RiverPark urges its patrons to wear an old pair of tennis shoes in the river to prevent accidents on the granite bedrock bottom, known for its slippery moss. Swimming and water activities are at your own risk—there is no lifeguard on duty.
- No grills or open fires – bring a picnic! We can’t risk a forest fire. Contained grilling is allowed ONLY on permanently installed, park-provided grills at the main shelter.
- No alcohol or drugs of any kind or smoking is allowed on the premises.
- Keep your pet on a maximum 10-foot leash at all times.
- No glass containers.
- Remember, KEEP IT CLEAN and be thoughtful of others. Good manners are free.
Reservations
The small picnic shelter is available for private rental at a rate of $100 for the day (10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) on most days the Park is scheduled to be open.
The shelter is not available on any Holiday or Holiday Weekend or on days of Park events. To check availability or to make a reservation, please contact Cooleemee Town Hall at 336-284-2141.
